Audiovisual and Media Arts Students Visit the Cinema Archive
Students of the Audiovisual and Media Arts programme, together with °µÍøTV Head of the Arts Direction Daira Ä€boliņa, visited the Cinema Archive to gain a deeper insight into Latvian film history and preservation practices.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the work of the archive, learn about film restoration and digitisation processes, and engage with materials that form part of the national cinematic heritage. Particular attention was given to the importance of film preservation and the challenges it faces in today’s digital age.
The visit offered valuable behind-the-scenes insight into the film industry, helping students better understand not only the creative process but also the technical and research work required to preserve films for future generations.
Such experiences strengthen the study process by connecting theoretical knowledge with a practical understanding of the industry and its development.
